Rinku Singh a.k.a. Rinku Khanchand Singh born on 12th October,1997 born in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Rinku Singh debuted in 2017 for Kolkata Knight Riders as a batsman by Kings XI Punjab. In the next IPL of 2018, he was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for a price of INR 80 Lakhs.
The 2022 IPL was one of the best years for Singh as he got more opportunities to shine out. Early span in IPL was not so worthy for Singh, as he scored 29 runs in just 4 games. He scored more than 150 runs with a decent average. Singh’s name emerged when he gave his surprise innings against Gujarat Giants in 2023 season where Singh knocked 5 consecutive sixes on Yash Dayal’s over and gave a splendid victory to KKR.

The journey of Rinku Singh’s of becoming a star is not as easy as it seems. Coming from a humble background Singh, competes for each and every opportunity he gets. He started playing cricket at an early age with his brothers and local boys.
He was naturally gifted and because of his talent he got admission in Delhi Public School Aligarh via sports quota when the principal Swapnil Jain caught his eye.
But education was a luxury for Rinku, after failing 9th standard, he had to quit his education to support his family. He even rejected his job as a cleaner in a coaching institute because he wanted to pursue his dream of becoming a cricketer and bring his family out of this financial burden forever.
Rinku also said about his struggles in an interview-
“My mom once told me that your father isn’t supporting you, so why don’t you get a job. I thought of taking a job to support my family at a coaching center near us. I thought I’ll get a good job and went wearing a shirt and pants. But I was offered a sweeping job. They said you come and sweep in the morning before anyone comes, no one will get to know you do this. I didn’t like that and I told myself I’ll focus on cricket instead and I left from there. I worked hard and my hard work has paid off.”
His father used to beat him to stop him playing further. He also participated in a tournament when he was in DPS Aligarh. He played against teams of Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka and he scored 354 runs and took 8 wickets and won Man of the Series and a bike. After this series his father became his biggest supporter and never stopped him from playing again.
Rinku Singh’s Domestic Career
Before making his name in IPL, Rinku Singh has already made his name big enough in Uttar Pradesh’s team in Under 16s in 2014. He started off on a very impressive note making 83 in his first game becoming a top scorer and he continued his class apart performance in upcoming games. He made his first class debut in 2016 where he scored four fifties in his first 7 list A matches.
The year 2018 was the year of Rinku when he knocked off 91 in just 44 balls against Tripura in Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the Ranji Trophy he again pulled off a fire blazing innings of 953 runs in just 10 games with four centuries and three fifties with an average of 105.88, which made him 3rd highest scorer overall. It was also the same time when he was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 80 Lakhs.
Controversies
But life was not a smooth sailing ship for Rinku. He was also banned by the BCCI when he played the Ramadan T20 Tournament in Abu Dhabi without asking prior permission from the Board. He was banned by the BCCI for 3 months but he still played for Deccan Gladiators and scored 104 runs in just 58 balls in the final match against New Medical Centre, which helped his team win the tournament.
IPL Career of Rinku Singh
The Young man debuted in 2017 for Kings XI Punjab but did not get the opportunity to play. In 2018 he played for the first time against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens, Kolkata and scored 6 runs in 6 balls. In the total IPL 2018, he scored 29 runs in 4 matches. For the next 2 seasons of IPL, his performance was not good and in 2021 he did not play IPL as he was recovering from his knee injury.
In 2022 IPL, everyone saw a new Rinku Singh who gave an immaculate performance of 174 runs in 7 matches with 4 fifties. Then comes the year 2023 where everyone knows who Rinku Singh is.
In 2023, he scored a total of 474 runs in 14 matches. This was the same season where in the 13th match of 2023 IPL he hit 5 consecutive sixes and wrote his name in the record books.
This one match changed his whole life, it gave him name, fame and everything he desired once. Within a night Rinku Singh became the cricket sensation and one of the most searched persons on Google.
